Dr. Alex Cotton is a Senior Scientist at Touchlight and is technical lead for template supply. Alex has been with Touchlight for 5 years, occupying positions in both the manufacturing and R&D teams, and now operates between the two departments to enable the transition of new technologies and improvements into operations. Touchlight works with a diverse range of companies in the genetic medicine space. As such, clients often require synthesis and amplification of DNA sequences with high complexity. These ultra complex sequences are extremely difficult to synthesise and are often unstable in bacteria. One of Alex’s key roles at Touchlight is to identify new and emerging DNA synthesis partners able to provide complex templates that can then be amplified to GMP for Touchlight’s clients.‍
