Speaker

Jayme Feyhl-Buska is a geomicrobiologist focused on leveraging the natural interactions between biology and geology to develop technologies that address climate issues. She started her geomicrobiology studies researching extremophilic life in the hot springs of Yellowstone National Park during her bachelors studies at Montana State University. At the University of Southern California, she continued her research into astrobiology and the limits of life, working to clarify energy and nutrient usage in deep subsurface microbes inhabiting a volcanic subglacial lake and a former gold mine. Following her PhD, Jayme honed her skills in applied geomicrobiology as an industry scientist, first developing agricultural biotechnologies at Boost Biomes, then specializing in biomining copper from low-grade ores at Cemvita and later through its spinoff, Endolith. Today, as the Critical Minerals Program Lead at Homeworld Collective, she continues to focus on how to develop better biomining biotechnologies capable of leveraging biology for the benefit of humanity and the environment.
