I’m Jacopo, co-founder and CEO of Abstract Bio, a California-based startup advancing enzymatic oligonucleotide synthesis. I hold a PhD in BioDesign Engineering from Imperial College London, where my research spanned synthetic gene circuit design, AI-driven signal peptide engineering and high-throughput protein secretion screening. At Abstract Bio, I’m working to displace legacy methods with scalable, enzyme-based approaches, a conviction shaped by my thesis work on the scaling limits of engineered biological systems. I relocated from London to the San Francisco Bay Area in early 2026!
