Stepan is a co-founder of Talaria Biosciences, building a platform to explore a protein multiverse, identify variants with desired properties, and generate AI-ready datasets for beyond-natural performance. Before Talaria, he spent nearly a decade in industrial biotech at Zymergen (enzyme discovery and data science) and Mammoth Biosciences (discovery and AI-enabled engineering of CRISPR enzymes), contributing to over 40 patents. He holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from EPFL (Switzerland) and has extensive expertise in bioinformatics, metagenomics, machine learning, and protein engineering. Stepan is passionate about making protein diversity accessible and accelerating biological innovation.
